FRONT BRAKES: The front brake system employed on virtually all late model cars is a disc brake system. They call it a disc brake system because the spinning rotor looks like a disc and, in fact, what happens is as hydraulic pressure is applied to the caliper itself, it sandwiches down on the spinning disc and slows the car.
